Miami Design District Hosts 10th Annual Fashion Strikes Cancer Event Series for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

 The Miami Design District (MDD) will proudly host the 10th Annual Fashion Strikes Cancer event series this October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Founded by fashion visionary, stylist, and breast cancer survivor Angeles Almuna, this inspiring month-long initiative supports the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) with the mission to end breast cancer by advancing the world’s most promising research.

This year, the series will honor Christine Handy, international model, author, humanitarian, and breast cancer advocate, with a diverse program of fashion, wellness, and community events.

A Decade of Fashion and Philanthropy

Fashion Strikes Cancer was created by Angeles Almuna to bring solace, hope, and inspiration to those enduring breast cancer, survivors, and families who have lost loved ones. Over the past ten years, the event has become a symbol of Miami’s fashion community coming together to make a meaningful difference.

Christine Handy, author of Walk Beside Me and mentor to many, embodies resilience and advocacy. Her story will be at the heart of this year’s tribute, as she continues to inspire through her work, philanthropy, and upcoming film Hello Beautiful.

Highlights of Fashion Strikes Cancer 2025

Miami Design District Hosts 10th Annual Fashion Strikes Cancer Event Series for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Throughout October, the Miami Design District will host a variety of initiatives that blend culture, wellness, and fashion:

  • October 1: Pink Dome Lighting Ceremony
    Kicking off the month with a symbolic lighting and a performance by the Florida Grand Opera, the oldest arts institution in Florida.

  • October 14: Annual Pink Yoga
    A healing yoga class led by Angeles Almuna and Dawn Feinberg, founder of Ahana Yoga, with music by DJ Drez.

  • October 25: Fashion Presentation & Cocktail Reception
    A dynamic showcase featuring stylists and designers including Danny Santiago, Juan Castillo, Lisu Vega, Sigal Cohen, and Valeria Krasavina.

In addition, select MDD retailers will donate proceeds from exclusive initiatives to benefit the BCRF.

 El Miami Design District (MDD) será sede de la 10ª edición de Fashion Strikes Cancer, una serie de eventos durante todo el mes de octubre en honor al Mes de Concientización sobre el Cáncer de Mama. Fundado por la visionaria de la moda, estilista y sobreviviente de cáncer de mama Angeles Almuna, este inspirador programa apoya a la Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), cuya misión es poner fin al cáncer de mama mediante el impulso a las investigaciones más prometedoras del mundo.
