‘Miami Swim Week’ and ‘Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim

Miami Beach had the honor of hosting the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim 2014. The city was enchanted by tiny bikinis and resort wear, which were adorned by leggy and toned models that strutted the runways in ultra-high heels. The most popular colors were shades of orange, pastels, aqua and lots of vibrant and bold prints.

On Thursday July 18th, TRESemmé was the official sponsor of the trendiest hairstyles and hair care of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2014, for the fourth consecutive year. Celebrity stylists Marco Pena and Tyler Laswell were in charge of the hair stylist team. I had the chance to meet backstage celebrity make-up artist Nikki Oxley and asked her which trends are we going to see next summer– “dramatic, rich, dark bold colors for the eyes and very natural lips?” In general the eyes will be ultra sexy and the rest of the face will have a very natural approach.

The “Agua Bendita” Fashion Show featured very sexy pieces with a Latin touch, a very colorful palette for all tastes and moods.

Friday July 19th I attended the Ocean Drive Magazine cover party, featuring the cover of supermodel Hannah Davis and celebrating Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim, held at the SLS Hotel. Ocean Drive was one of the official sponsors of MBFS Swim. I had the opportunity to interview the new editor in chief of the Magazine, Jared Shapiro who told us that it’s just fantastic to see models, designers, and beautiful people from all over the world flaunting the city at all the fashion shows. The event featured a preview of the latest Resort & Swim collection by Trina Turk.

On Saturday, July 20th I was back at the SLS Hotel and this time for the Fashion Show of the Brazilian designer Sinesia Karol. Backstage, while prepping for the show, Sinesia mentioned her inspiration for this collection was birds and orchids from Brazil. She has an artist that designs the prints for her. She has an Atelier in Sao Paulo, Brazil and another one in NYC and Boston. The designer mentioned that she is adding handbags to her collection and the famous and exclusive store Bergdorf Goodman is one of her newest clients.

Her target woman is sophisticated, a jet-setter that understands and appreciates the material and fabrics of a very high-end line. I asked what would her advice be for emerging fashion designers and Sinesia replied “follow your passion, take risks, and if someone discourages you don’t pay attention!” I personally enjoyed her collection very much because it was very sophisticated, versatile, and clean.
