Last night, the Miami Design District officially opened Miami Art Week with the unveiling of Walking on Air, the newest rehang of the Craig Robins Collection. The event brought together luminaries from the worlds of art, fashion, and design, as well as international tastemakers and notable guests.

Hosted by Craig Robins, CEO and President of Dacra, the celebration took place inside the historic Buick Building, offering an inspiring start to Miami’s most vibrant cultural season.

A Collection That Defines Contemporary Art in Miami

The Craig Robins Collection includes more than 1,700 works of modern and contemporary art, displayed throughout Dacra’s headquarters in the Miami Design District.

The 2025–2026 rehang, titled Walking on Air, places a major focus on the work of Richard Tuttle, the artist most extensively represented in the collection. The exhibit spans Tuttle’s career, from the mid-1960s to today, showcasing the evolution of his signature spatial experimentation and material delicacy.

Visitors can explore early works such as:

  • Drift constructions (1965)

  • Tin Letters (1966)

  • Dyed cloth pieces (1967)

These foundational works introduced the lyrical suspension and lightness that continue to define Tuttle’s artistic language.

The exhibition reveals unexpected connections between Tuttle’s work and pieces by other major contemporary artists. When placed alongside David Hammons’ B. Ball (1998), John Baldessari’s Throwing Three Balls in the Air to Get a Straight Line (1973), and Marcel Duchamp’s 3 Standard Stoppages (1964 edition), the shared fascination with chance, movement, and gravity becomes clear.

Drawing inspiration from Tuttle’s 2009 series, Walking on Air sets an ethereal tone throughout the exhibition, extending to works by:

  • Jana Euler

  • Sasha Gordon

  • Xinyi Cheng

  • Mario Ayala

The rehang also features exciting new acquisitions from artists including Lauren Halsey, Sam McKinnis, and Jill Mulleady, reflecting the ongoing evolution of the collection.

A Two-Story Artistic Journey Through the Buick Building

The opening reception offered guests an intimate first look at the two-floor installation. Serving as a prelude to the upcoming art season, the exhibition highlights some of today’s most influential contemporary artists in one immersive experience.

After the vernissage, guests were invited to join Craig Robins for a private dinner curated by WE ARE ONA and supported by BVLGARI, adding a luxurious touch to the evening.

Miami Design District Da Inicio a Art Week con “Walking on Air”

  • Amber Ridinger, Empresaria
