]]>The post Q and A: Fabrizio De Castro, A Fashion Star appeared first on Miami Fashion Spotlight.
]]>In 2013, he successfully held his first fashion presentation at Miami Fashion Week, opening so many doors. Great opportunities such as: Art Basel, the Billboards, celebrity red carpets, among others, led him to a recognition, like his own official Fabrizio De Castro Day (October 17) by former Miami Beach Mayor, Matty Bower, and former Miami Beach Commissioner, Michael Gongora.
Before long, De Castro became known in our city as “the fashion transformer” by his unique style for combining art, colors, and innovation, highlighting simplicity and affordability in his collections, and his Parisian style catwalks (influenced by the French designers during his studies at the institute Esmod).
In our passion to report about the most happening fashion news in our city, we got an exclusive interview during his latest presentation in Wynwood, where this raising star talks about his collection, inspiration, next projects, and more…
Miami Fashion Spotlight: Tell us about this show here ( Private Key) tonight.
Fabrizio De Castro: I presented my “ready to wear” spring-summer 2017 collection, called “Dukes of the sun.” The collection featured about 30 designs.
MFS: Tell us about the palette of colors and about the fabrics?
FDC: The collection began with the color emerald green. We continued with pearl, gold, and white, closing with black and gold. Between the fabrics, we had organza, silk, lace and cotton.
MFS: What was your inspiration for this collection?
FDC: The collection was inspired by “The Dukes of the Sun” characters, who over time, came to become dukes with sunlight, where they entered had countenance star of light and designs used could seduce or charm the public…
MFS: The collection has a favorite design. Why?
FDC: All my designs are favorites, but one I love was a long, organza skirt that goes to the floor in tissues, accompanied with a transparent black blouse with a black lace bustier under. When I saw it on the runway during the test, I imagined a woman walking in the desert with a magic skirt.
MFS: What is your next project?
FDC: I am director of “Mr. Black” magazine, targeting men of influence in Miami and South Florida, including Fort Lauderdale. I’m also preparing my next show for “Swim Week”, which will be in July. I will present two Resort 2017 collections (male and female).
MFS: Could you define yourself and your work with just three words?
FDC: Exclusive, elegant, and what would be the third word … Professional.
MFS: We have seen your work grow rapidly. What do you think is the secret of the acceptance of your designs so fast in our market?
FDC: Getting attention from the public requires experience as a designer, something that only time can provide, and after eleven years of experience, I have been sharpening the pencil and refining the pin. Creativity is a mental development we can achieve when inspired. We must also keep up with the trends used for the next season (in advance). I think you must have an artistic eye, if you do not have an eye that captures all, it is very difficult to succeed in this career, because it’s all about details.
MFS: What advice would you give to emerging designers coming to Miami this year?
FDC: It’s definitely a very beautiful career, at the same time, very egocentric with many ups and downs. My recommendation is to enjoy it to the fullest, while you’re developing ways to capture your universe and part of your personality in your designs with creativity.
MFS: Any predictions on trends for 2017?
FDC: Yes, of course … many citrus colors come in 2017, along with green, but not just any green—the green that is almost mint … white and gold also make appearances again!

With an inspiration that blended romance and femininity, Gionni Straccia Spring 2017 set the runway for exclusive designs that revealed the richness of a flower – expressing the sweetness and tenderness that flow from it- but highlighting a touch of excitement for the subtle, elegant and tasteful woman.
More than 300 guests were entertained while fabulous models, that included one Miss Universe, showcasing the new clothing collection dominated by the use of two Straccia’s favorites: crepes silk and laces. Also, Italian tulle and organza embellished exquisite dresses, most of them with artistic embroidered and hand-painted flowers. The Italian-Venezuelan designer is excited with the accomplishment of his very first full collection, “I am really very happy with the outcome. I wanted to express women’s romanticism, femininity and their sweetness,” said Straccia,“and I tried to rescue a technique of hand-painted flowers, to be in tune with the latest fashion trends, but highlighting the indelible Gionni Straccia stamp”.

]]>We wanted to start this year with one of our favorite local designer and her proposal for Spring/Summer 2016: “La Historia del Ojo” (the story of the eye) Collection. With a palette of colors of: Black, white, buttercup, deep sky blue and carnation– this collection is comprised of 18 pieces (composed of pants, dresses, blouses and jackets) and only a capsule of 6 pieces were presented for the first time in the Oxford Fashion Studio during the New York Fashion Week, last year.
“La Historia del Ojo” features designs completely different from her other collections such as handmade irregular cut designs and also experimental new materials and you know Vega, she takes inspiration in every life situation—this time the collection was inspired by an emotional moment that happened to her, last year.
She started feeling pain in her eyes and visited the doctor—after she saw the red flash light and the picture they took of her eyes; she came up with a prints idea for her new collection. Without a doubt we know that we will see these gorgeous designs as favorite street styles for the “It Girl” during our beautiful sunsets here in Miami.

]]>Much of what set Miami-based Venezuelan designer, Alexis Carballosa, apart from the rest of the fashion designers is that he has always supported the environmental movement, creating awareness through his collections.
This talented designer has always blazed his own trail and demonstrated a fearlessness in trying new styles by making a majestic fusion between his passion for the plastic arts, his love for nature, and his undeniable determination to preserve the environment—resulting in amazing pieces of wearable art!
His work has impacted Europe and South America, leading our designer to win the “Best Styling Award” from Valencia Fashion Week in Spain where he dazzled the audience with his latest “Caoba” Spring-Summer 2015 Collection.
In an exclusive interview for Miami Fashion Spotlight, Carballosa opened the doors of his ateliers to our founder and president, Lissette Rondon, where he talked about his award, his collection, predictions for 2015, and more…check it out!
LR- Tell us how you felt after you won the “Best Styling Award” in Valencia Fashion Week in Spain?
“It was an honor to receive recognition among so many great designers that were at Valencia Fashion Week,” said Carballosa.
LR- Tell us a little about your latest collection “CAOBA” – what was your inspiration for this collection?
“CAOBA, as its name says, is inspired by this exotic and valuable timber species currently threatened due to the high demand and nearly extinct in some countries.
