Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach Hosts Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and VIP Celebration

Shelborne, one of Miami’s most historic landmark resorts, celebrated its official grand re-opening as Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach to much fanfare on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. The well-attended fête included red carpet arrivals and a ceremonial ribbon cutting at dusk followed by a cocktail reception featuring libations by master mixologist Albert Trummer and hors d’oeuvres prepared by Chef Masaharu Morimoto.

Hosted by Abraham and Nancy Galbut, Russell and Ronalee Galbut, and Paul and Dayssi Kanavos, the evening welcomed locals, celebrities, and South Beach dignitaries alike. The event culminated with champagne toast by Trummer followed by a musical performance by Elastic Bond.

The evening celebrated Shelborne’s recent $90 million dollar restoration, which enhanced the resort’s public areas, chic pool and cabana experiences, guest rooms, suites, corridors, meetings spaces, and ballrooms with understated luxury and timeless elegance.

The resort also introduced Morimoto South Beach, the cool contemporary Miami flagship restaurant from award-winning Chef Masaharu Morimoto, who also oversees the resort’s comprehensive food and beverage programs including room service and catering. The resort’s 1940’s-inspired lobby has additionally been restored as the Drawing Room Bar & Lounge that presents an original artistic cocktail program from celebrated apotheker Albert Trummer.

Located oceanfront in the heart of South Beach’s Art Deco District, Shelborne is situated in one of the most desirable areas of Miami Beach, and just walking distance to Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive. The resort’s elegant pool and lounge area, which features inviting cabanas, leads right up to the boardwalk and a long stretch of white-sand beach. In honoring its heritage and reviving its history with a refined, contemporary appeal, the Shelborne team has primed the property to be an incomparable South Beach destination.
