Miami Symphony Orchestra Opens Its 2026–2027 Season with a Spectacular Night at the Arsht Center

Miami has always been a city defined by movement, creativity and cultural diversity. Yet some evenings remind us that beyond fashion, art, architecture and nightlife, our city also possesses a remarkable musical voice.

On Sunday, November 15, 2026, that voice will once again fill the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Knight Concert Hall as The Miami Symphony Orchestra (MISO) launches its highly anticipated 2026–2027 Steinway Artist Season.

For those of us at Miami Fashion Spotlight, supporting The Miami Symphony Orchestra has always meant supporting something much larger than a single performance. It means celebrating the artists and cultural institutions that contribute to Miami’s identity—and inviting our community to experience them firsthand.

This season opening offers the perfect opportunity.

A Grand Season Opening Worth Experiencing

Led by Music Director and CEO Maestro Eduardo Marturet, The Miami Symphony Orchestra will open its new season with an evening created around passion, virtuosity and some of classical music’s most celebrated compositions.

The concert begins at 6:00 PM at the Knight Concert Hall and features internationally acclaimed pianist Tian Jiang performing Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 18.

The program also includes Dmitri Shostakovich’s Festive Overture and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92.

It is an ambitious combination: the brilliance of Shostakovich, the unmistakable romanticism of Rachmaninoff and the rhythmic intensity of Beethoven—all in one evening.

For longtime classical music lovers, it is a compelling opening program.

For someone attending the symphony for the first time, it may be an equally wonderful introduction.

Tian Jiang Takes Center Stage

At the heart of the evening will be pianist Tian Jiang, joining MISO for Rachmaninoff’s beloved second piano concerto.

The work has become one of the most recognizable compositions in the classical repertoire, known for its sweeping melodies, dramatic passages and extraordinary dialogue between piano and orchestra.

Experiencing music of this scale live is entirely different from listening to a recording.

There is the silence immediately before the first note. The movement of the musicians. The resonance of the concert hall. The visual dialogue between conductor, soloist and orchestra.

The Steinway Artist Season Begins

The November concert is also the first installment of the MISO Steinway Artist Season, a collaboration that will place extraordinary pianists at the center of several performances throughout the 2026–2027 season.

Following the Grand Season Opening, the Knight Concert Hall series continues with performances on February 21, April 11 and May 23, 2027.

Steinway Artist Series II — February 21, 2027

The second concert features pianists Kevin Kenner and Vyacheslav Gryaznov performing Francis Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos.

The evening will also include the South Florida premiere of LeFrak’s Lady Liberty Suite and Stravinsky’s colorful and theatrical Petrushka.

Steinway Artist Series III — April 11, 2027

Three pianists—Kevin Kenner, Viet Trung Nguyen and Shuguan Gong—will share the stage for Mozart’s Concerto No. 7 for Three Pianos.

The program also includes the South Florida premiere of Márquez’s Danzón No. 9 and Brahms’ deeply expressive Symphony No. 3.

Grand Season Finale — May 23, 2027

MISO will conclude the Knight Concert Hall series with what promises to be one of the season’s most ambitious evenings.

The program includes Mendelssohn’s Concerto for Violin and Piano, Khachaturian’s Piano Concerto and an extraordinary gathering of six pianists for the world premiere of Eduardo Marturet’s MiamiVice for Six Pianos, a MISO commission, followed by Liszt’s Hexameron for Six Pianos.
