From Doral to New York: RIVO MODA by Marco Michetti Brings a Venezuelan Point of View to the Modern Groom

After a South Florida runway appearance, Venezuelan designer Marco Michetti is preparing for a New York moment with “Quiero Ser Tu Novio,” a made-to-measure menswear proposal that puts the groom—and his personality—at the center of the story.

For years, bridal fashion has known exactly where to direct the spotlight.

The dress. The veil. The shoes. The transformation.

The groom, meanwhile, has often been expected to simply arrive looking appropriately elegant.

RIVO MODA by Marco Michetti has a different idea.

For Venezuelan designer Marco Michetti, menswear—particularly formalwear—should not reduce a man to a dress code. It should reveal something about him.

His philosophy is remarkably uncomplicated: “Design, Style and Happiness.”

And as Michetti prepares to bring RIVO MODA to New York on September 14, that idea is becoming the foundation for a new chapter in a career that began long before this particular runway moment.

A New York Debut Decades in the Making

Michetti may be approaching a new level of visibility in the United States, but he is hardly new to fashion.

Born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, he began working in the beauty and modeling world in 1992, initially training beauty queens. By 1998, he had founded his own modeling school and became involved in casting for Miss Venezuela and Mister Venezuela in the state of Lara.

That background is worth considering because it places his approach to clothing in a slightly different context.

Michetti did not enter fashion exclusively through the traditional route of sketchbook, atelier and runway. He spent years studying people: posture, proportion, presentation, confidence and the complicated relationship between clothing and the way someone enters a room.

Eventually, menswear became the vehicle.

In 2011, RIVO MODA was founded in Barquisimeto, specializing in artisanal and made-to-measure men’s fashion.

The premise was not simply to dress men well.

It was to make the clothes feel personal.

When the Suit Becomes Personal

There is a persistent misconception surrounding men’s formalwear: that elegance requires conformity.

Black tuxedo. White shirt. Correct proportions. Appropriate shoes.

Done.

But contemporary menswear has increasingly moved beyond that formula, and Michetti’s work sits comfortably inside that conversation.

RIVO MODA operates through custom and artisanal tailoring, allowing the garment to respond not only to the man’s measurements, but also to his personality.

That distinction becomes particularly visible in Michetti’s groom collection, “Quiero Ser Tu Novio” — “I Want to Be Your Groom.”

Even the name changes the tone.

This is not Wedding Formalwear No. 4.

It is romantic.

Personal.

Almost conversational.

And perhaps most importantly, it recognizes that the groom is not an accessory to the wedding aesthetic. He is one half of its emotional center.

An earlier presentation of Quiero Ser Tu Novio explored multiple interpretations of groom dressing, moving from the restraint of black toward more expressive color—including red—while maintaining the brand’s made-to-measure philosophy.

The result is less about prescribing what a groom should wear and more about asking a better question:

Who does he want to be when he walks into that room?

Quiero Ser Tu Novio: Dressing the Other Half of the Wedding

From Doral to New York: RIVO MODA by Marco Michetti Brings a Venezuelan Point of View to the Modern Groom

Wedding fashion has changed dramatically.

Ceremonies have changed.

Venues have changed.

Couples have changed.

The traditional ballroom now exists alongside destination weddings, garden ceremonies, courthouse vows, beach celebrations and highly individualized events where almost every visual decision reflects the couple themselves.

Why, then, should the groom’s wardrobe remain static?

That is where Michetti’s proposal becomes most relevant.

Quiero Ser Tu Novio gives men’s wedding fashion permission to have a point of view.

Color can communicate confidence.

Texture can replace predictability.

A sharply tailored silhouette can feel ceremonial without feeling conventional.

And a custom suit can become something considerably more emotional than something rented, worn once and returned the following morning.

There is also an appealing contradiction in the collection’s concept.

Tailoring requires discipline.

Love rarely does.

Michetti brings the two together.

From Venezuela to the Miami Fashion Conversation

South Florida has become an important part of RIVO MODA’s developing American story.

Michetti previously presented the brand at Doral Fashion Week in 2023, when RIVO MODA showed Calabria Trópico, an interpretation that combined baroque references with tropical Venezuelan influences and closed with groom looks from the Torino collection.

He returned to the Doral Fashion Week environment in 2026 before turning his attention north toward New York. Doral Fashion Week itself positions the Miami-area platform around the intersection of international designers, emerging talent and the city’s multicultural identity.

That progression—Barquisimeto to South Florida to New York—feels particularly relevant now.

Miami’s fashion identity has always been shaped by migration.

Designers arrive carrying references from Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, the Caribbean, Europe and beyond. Those influences do not disappear once they reach South Florida.

They begin new conversations.

Michetti brings his own: Venezuelan menswear filtered through decades spent thinking about image, presentation and the psychology of dressing.

The Road to New York

On September 14, 2026, Michetti is scheduled to present through New York Fashion Week by Adriana Maurera, also known as NYFW AM, during its Spring/Summer 2027 event in New York. The platform’s published program places the presentation at the Angel Orensanz Foundation and describes an international designer lineup for the evening.

For RIVO MODA, the appearance arrives after years of gradually expanding the brand’s reach.

Michetti’s résumé also includes recognition for formalwear at Mister Tourism World 2024 in Vietnam, work dressing Venezuela’s representative for Mister World 2025, and multiple fashion-week presentations.

But accolades tell only part of the story.

The more interesting question is what happens when a designer who has spent decades observing how men present themselves enters a larger international conversation about what modern formalwear can become.

For Michetti, the answer seems to begin with individuality.

“My goal is for every man to feel happy and fulfilled according to his own style,” he says. “Fashion should make you happy.”

It is a simple statement.

Yet there is something surprisingly refreshing about it.

Fashion has become extraordinarily good at telling us what is relevant, what is aspirational, what is new and what we should want next.

Happiness is mentioned considerably less often.

A Groom Who No Longer Stands in the Background

From Doral to New York: RIVO MODA by Marco Michetti Brings a Venezuelan Point of View to the Modern Groom

Perhaps that is why Quiero Ser Tu Novio feels like the right collection for this particular moment in RIVO MODA’s evolution.

It takes one of menswear’s most traditional garments—the groom’s suit—and asks it to carry more personality.

More emotion.

More individuality.

And ultimately, more of the man wearing it.

New York will provide a larger stage, but Michetti’s real proposition is considerably more intimate.

A beautifully tailored suit should fit the shoulders.

It should respect the body.

It should understand the occasion.

But perhaps the best one does something else as well:

It allows the man inside it to feel entirely like himself.

RIVO MODA by Marco Michetti propone algo diferente.
