Miami Fashion Week 2017 ended successfully a few days ago. And do I need to say more? Once again, we were mesmerized by all the great designers, the shows, the gorgeous fashion pieces, the exciting trends and the hot parties. Everyone was there making the whole fashion week even more beautiful. Miami Fashion Week gets better year by year; sure, it has some space to improve in a few areas, but all in all it is a great event that showcases the best of Miami’s fashion scene.

After the magical touch of Antonio Banderas in 2016, by being the honorary president of the organization, a new revamped feel was added to the shows, making them even more glamorous for this year’s events. Antonio Banderas returned with fascinating shows and a gala to benefit Miami’s Children Health Foundation. Unfortunately, the only sad news was that almost all the most important shows were by invitation only; something that left many fashionistas a bit disappointed.

And now to the fun part! What’s that? The actual shows that were better than last year and the outstanding trends of course! The fashion week opened with Silvia Tcherassi and her ultra-elegant, feminine and chic designs. Famous names like Custo Barcelona, Agatha Ruiz De La Prada, Rene Ruiz and my personal favorite Angel Sanchez who is from Venezuela like me, made their appearance.

The trends that caught everyone’s eye including mine, were fun, sexy and sometimes edgy. Let’s see the best of them!

Off-The-Shoulder

Miami Fashion Week 2017 was all about the shoulders! And we couldn’t have been happier, as this trend is the best way to make a woman feel sexy without revealing too much skin. We saw off-the-shoulder styles, cold shoulders and generally garments that expose this part of the body. Silvia Tcherassi, Angel Sanchez and Rene Ruiz were some of the designers who presented this trend through gorgeous ruffled blouses or chic bardot dresses.

Edgy Prints

Edgy prints were there to satisfy the most fashion forward people that want to be the center of attention with their style choices. The pattern that made a real difference on the catwalks was the piano key print for sure. It was featured in midi skirts and dresses, and gave a super playful look. Shantall Lacayo was one of the designers that incorporated this trend.

Fun Details

Fun details that transform a piece into art like feathers and metallic sparkly details were shown from designers like Angel Sanchez and Rene Ruiz. The outcome? Phenomenal.

Bold Colors

Custo Barcelona and Agatha Ruiz De La Prada made a point by adding happy, bold colors to their collections. Colors like bright oranges, red and fuchsia were shown that are just perfect for summer season.
